Appleton Finn is seeking a highly skilled Construction Superintendent to lead and coordinate field operations for a significant data center project in California. This role involves overseeing subcontractor and trade labor work, ensuring that project standards for safety, schedule, quality, and budget are consistently met. The Superintendent will have supervisory responsibility for Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Interns, and trade labor within their designated scope of work.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, or Project Executive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight: Lead all on-site work activities, with a focus on scheduling, logistics, quality control, and workforce allocation.
- Trade Coordination: Coordinate and direct assigned trade activities to ensure smooth and efficient project operations. Resolve issues related to procedures, precedence, design clarifications, labor adequacy, and equipment schedules.
- Safety Management: Manage and enforce the project site’s safety program, ensuring full compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Team Development: Supervise and mentor Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and Interns, offering performance feedback and guidance as required.
- Scheduling and Recovery: Develop project schedules and work sequences, implementing recovery plans to maintain project timelines when necessary.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as a primary field liaison with owners, architects, and engineers, addressing and resolving field-related issues.
- Billing and Documentation: Oversee Work in Place (WIP) billing processes, including work completion estimates, payroll, material invoices, and subcontractor payments.
- Quality Control: Ensure all work is completed in adherence to the approved contract documents and established quality standards.
Key Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a Superintendent role, managing field operations for large-scale construction projects, preferably data centers or similar high-tech facilities.
- Strong leadership skills, with a background in coordinating multiple trades and managing labor scheduling effectively.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and ability to manage a site-wide safety program.
- Proficiency in project scheduling, quality control processes, and recovery plan implementation.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and an aptitude for resolving on-site issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with diverse stakeholders, including owners and design professionals.
